What You Can Do

By raising awareness about trafficking, you are bringing to light a crime that is shrouded in darkness and often goes unreported. When people see the issue more clearly, they can then act! Your work advocating against human trafficking is invaluable. For human trafficking to end, we need a critical mass of people to understand the problem and know how to recognize the signs.

Start by educating yourself about human trafficking and how it affects you and your community. Become informed to protect yourself and others around you. Most victims of slavery and trafficking had no idea this could happen to them. Learn more about human trafficking and find the latest research and reports.

CAST’s toll-free hotline is available anywhere in the U.S., 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with translators in multiple languages.

Our hotline is not associated with law enforcement or any government agencies. Your right to confidentially and privacy will be protected at your request. If a victim’s situation is life threatening, we encourage you to call 911 and report his/her location to the police.

CAST provides services to Los Angeles County. For services outside of Los Angeles County, please call the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 888-373-7888.

When you call the CAST hotline our hotline advocates will ask you some basic demographic questions, provide community referrals and/or complete our short pre-screening questions to receive long term social services or legal services. Our goal is to help victims of human trafficking acquire legal protection, food, shelter and medical care. All our services are free.

Lend your professional expertise (i.e., business, medicine, law, language translation or the arts) to CAST. Open volunteer positions below.

Outreach Volunteers

CAST is launching a campaign to educate people on human trafficking and slavery so that they can help identify potential victims and direct them to our hotline. This means getting out outreach materials in Los Angeles’s diverse enclaves: tabling at events, recruiting community partners, giving talks at community gatherings and leaving displays and cards in places where potential victims might see them.

We are looking for energetic volunteers to help with diversifying our outreach and education that will help more survivors of human trafficking find us and get the legal and social support that they need.

All are welcome to apply, but we are especially seeking volunteers with ties to community organizations, that speak multiple languages and offer rich cultural know-how.

If you would like to be a part of our team, please send a resume and/or a short description of how you could help us in our cause to Joshua Holst.
