Action Alert: Ask your Representative or Senator to Cosponsor H.R. 1732 and S. 1823 "Strengthening the Child Welfare Response to Trafficking Act"

Background:

Recent studies show that 60-80% of child sex trafficking victims in the United States have had prior contact with child welfare. However, these children are not being correctly identified as victims of human trafficking. Thus, they are not given the specialized assistance that can help them reclaim their lives. These findings are consistent with CAST’s experience in Los Angeles and in California. H.R. 1732 and S. 1823, “The Strengthening the Child Welfare Response to Trafficking Act,” will help prevent human trafficking and provide better services for trafficked children.

Action Steps You Can Take Today:

You can help prevent modern-day slavery—just call or e-mail your Representative and/or Senator! Government officials are accustomed to receiving these calls, which will take just a few minutes of your time. Leave a voicemail or a message with whomever answers the phone.
